Description of the experience
Pastovelia is the only cheese factory within the Protected Designation of Origin of Torta del Casar that has an interpretation centre. In other words, the factory is aimed at raising social awareness by maintaining those products that, both in the past and in the present, play an important role in the tradition of a culture.
It is a space dedicated to the history of a product that for centuries has allowed small towns where the figure of the shepherd was of utmost importance to survive.
This multidisciplinary place is made up of audiovisual equipment, both video and audio, and different scenarios that will take you to the origin of this ancestral trade, in the region of Extremadura. In the end, the objective is for the visitor to discover how the shepherd and his family lived, what their days were like together with the flocks, and how they made cheeses in a 100% artisanal way.
A totally nomadic, humble and traditional way of life that was passed down from generation to generation, and that thanks to our museum we can 'relive' today.
